Hooklift Systems: ALMEC Electronic Automation Systems

ALMEC has made significant strides in innovating and enhancing the composition and functionality of its automation systems dedicated to hooklift systems, incorporating advanced technologies that improve functionality, safety, and operational efficiency. These systems, which fully communicate via the CANopen protocol, represent the state-of-the-art in controlling and managing loading and unloading operations. Below, we explore the key components and the latest innovations in the sector.

Wired and Wireless Control Interfaces:

  • Wired Pushbutton ALNW: This wired pushbutton is essential for direct control of the hooklift’s functions. Designed to operate in challenging environments, it ensures a stable and reliable connection, allowing the operator to manage loading and unloading operations with precision.

  • Wireless Pushbutton ALNWR: As a wireless alternative to the wired pushbutton, the ALNWR offers greater operational flexibility, enabling the operator to control the hooklift from a distance. This solution is particularly valuable in situations where mobility is critical, enhancing safety and operational efficiency.

Advanced Electronic Control Units:

  • SPN5M Electronic Control Unit: The SPN5M control unit is the heart of the hooklift’s automation system. Acting as the “brain” of the entire system, it manages information from the control interfaces and coordinates the operation of other components, ensuring that all processes run smoothly and safely. Recent improvements to this unit include increased processing capacity and faster response times, making the system even more reliable.

  • RDC EVO Wireless Receiver Control Unit: This control unit receives signals from the wireless pushbutton and transmits them to the SPN5M unit for executing the desired functions. The EVO version has been enhanced to ensure greater resistance to interference and more stable communication even in challenging environmental conditions.

Flow Management and Operational Control:

  • AL35R15 Electropneumatic Distributor: This component is crucial for managing airflow and controlling the lifting and emptying operations of the hooklift. Depending on operational needs, the distributor can be configured with a variable number of elements (from 4 to 8), offering a flexible solution that adapts to different load requirements.

Operator Interfaces and Safety:

  • MVS.B3E or MVS.B4E Operator Panels: These panels provide an intuitive and user-friendly interface for operators, allowing real-time monitoring of the system’s status and interaction with it. The latest versions of these panels feature larger displays and improved graphical interfaces, making it easier to access critical information during operations.

  • TRS.184 Safety Angular Sensor: The TRS.184 sensor is essential for ensuring safety during lifting and unloading operations. This device accurately detects the angle and movement of the system, preventing dangerous situations and contributing to a safe working environment.

Remote Diagnostics and Monitoring Solutions:

  • ALMECdiag Device Modem: The ALMECdiag modem, connected to the hooklift, enables the transmission of operational and diagnostic data to a dedicated portal on the ALMECdiag Platform. This advanced solution allows customers to monitor their system’s status in real-time, perform preventive diagnostics, and reduce downtime, thereby optimizing productivity.

Integration of Advanced Sensors:

  • Various Sensors: ALMEC integrates a wide range of specialized sensors into the hooklift system, each designed to monitor and collect data on critical variables such as pressure, temperature, position, and speed. These sensors provide essential information to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Automation for Hooklifts with Loaders: In cases where the hooklift is equipped with a loader, such as a scrap loader crane positioned behind the vehicle cab, the automation system is further extended. This includes the integration of a master SPN5M electronic control unit and a slave SPN5M unit, an ALMSNT dashboard for more precise control, and additional sensors to monitor crane operations, ensuring seamless integration and advanced control of all hooklift functions.

With these innovations, ALMEC continues to position itself as a leader in the hooklift sector, offering advanced solutions that meet the demands of an ever-evolving market, where efficiency, safety, and operational versatility are paramount.
