ALMEC partner in the MOREPRO project
The MOREPRO project was initiated within the framework of Industry 4.0 to address the need for improving the performance and management of production systems in the manufacturing sector, particularly in high-precision mechanical machining for components and products with high added value, typical of industries such as aerospace, oil & gas, automotive, and railways.
These machining processes often involve the use of special, difficult-to-machine, and very expensive materials, which are machined by chip removal starting from large solid blocks with precision to a hundredth of a millimeter. The types of products can vary significantly, ranging from one-of-a-kind components or very small batches for special applications to large batch productions characterized by extremely high production rates.
The MOREPRO project aims to develop an innovative distributed intelligence system to improve the management of production plants—particularly flexible production lines—through new capabilities for simulation, monitoring, and predicting the health of plants, machines, and their components, as well as the wear conditions of cutting tools in complex machining operations. Specifically, the project intends to develop a new digital architecture integrated with machine controllers and plant supervisors to continuously monitor the production line, both in terms of the quality of individual processes (monitoring and predicting the remaining life of tools) and the productivity of the systems (predictive and opportunistic maintenance management).
