ALMEC invests in the medical sector by creating the innovative start-up Aldetech
ALMEC invests in the medical sector and, in collaboration with Engineer Alma De Luca, has founded the innovative start-up ALDETECH s.r.l.
The company, established on June 11th, recently acquired the patent for the product ReVideo, developed by the Polytechnic University of Turin and based on an idea by Professor Umberto Lucia. After conducting an in-depth analytical study on the membrane transport of the optic nerve, the professor conceived the idea of stimulating specific areas of the eye using a smartphone screen, inspired by his own medical condition.
ReVideo is a software that allows for the creation of personalized video therapies, where light impulses stimulate malfunctioning eye cells to partially recover the visual field, while other impulses strengthen the functioning cells.
These personalized video therapies are rehabilitative treatments designed for patients suffering from optic nerve disorders, such as glaucoma, and maculopathies, enabling them to partially regain lost visual field.
Earlier this year, the ReVideo trial began on several patients at Molinette Hospital – Città della Salute in Turin, SS Antonio e Biagio e Cesare Arrigo Hospital in Alessandria, and the Ophthalmology Clinic of Dr. A. Vercesi in Tortona (AL).
